Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has ruled out any chance of Jordan Henderson playing between now and the end of the Premier League season.

Klopp has confirmed that Henderson is yet to return to full training and that he has no chance of playing for the club in the final four Premier League matches as they go in search of a Champions League spot.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, as relayed by James Pearce, Klopp has admitted that Henderson could still play for England at the European Championships, despite being ruled out for Liverpool, and that it is now down to the player and his country to discuss what they are going to do.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Liverpool’s centre-back issues have been, rightly, pointed out throughout the campaign, but Henderson is just as big of a blow for the Reds. Having Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez out for the majority of the season has, obviously, not been ideal. The likes of Nat Phillips and Ozan Kabak have stepped up in their absence and provided some solid performances at the back for the Reds to negate some of the impact of their injuries, whereas Henderson has been virtually irreplaceable in midfield.

Last season, Henderson averaged a superb WhoScored rating of 7.15 in the Premier League. No Liverpool midfielder has managed that this term, whilst Sadio Mane is the only player in the entire squad who has achieved a higher rating than that this season. This shows how much of a blow Henderson’s injury-ridden season has been for Liverpool, as they have missed his combative and controlling performances in the middle of the park in the Premier League, not to mention his leadership as the club captain.
