West Brom remain in the hunt for a top six place heading into the final 11 games of the season.

The Baggies have struggled to find consistency since Tony Mowbray replaced Carlos Corberan, but a resolute 1-1 draw at table-topping Leeds United last weekend has buoyed the club and shown that they can compete against the best sides in the division.

The latest midweek round of Championship fixtures has seen Bristol City pull level with the Baggies on 52 points, with West Brom only separating themselves in the top six on goal difference.

With every point between now and the end of this term crucial to having a shot at a Premier League return, Albion will need to go on a consistent run of positive results between now and May, with this weekend’s home clash with QPR seemingly going down as a must-win.

With this in mind, Football League World’s West Brom fan pundit has outlined Albion’s biggest issue at the club right now and how they can solve it to cement a play-off place.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, West Brom fan pundit Callum Burgess bemoaned the Baggies’ ability to string a consistent number of positive results together, with this needed more than ever to stave off the chasing pack.

Burgess said: “At this moment in time, you’d probably have to say consistency is West Bromwich Albion’s biggest issue.

“When you haven’t won back-to-back games since late September, that sums it up very well that Albion haven’t been able to put together a strong run of form.

“We, of course, had a long unbeaten run that included lots of draws in succession, but unfortunately, we weren’t able to convert many of them into wins, so it does sum up Albion’s season.

“Despite not being at our best, we’re still getting along quite nicely and still within touching distance of the play-offs, but the team really needs to improve its consistency if they are to consolidate their place in the top six.”

For a side competing for a place in the play-offs, not being able to win back-to-back games since September 2024 is a damning stat that needs to be addressed as quickly as possible.

At the same time, to still be in the mix for promotion does show that Albion do have enough quality in the squad to compete towards the top end of the table, but a successive number of wins needs to be achieved with other sides now firmly on their coattails.
