VfL Bochum has extended the contract of its number one Timo Horn. The 32-year-old goalkeeper is now tied to the club until 2027, as the relegated Bundesliga club announced.
Horn joined VfL last summer and was initially only a substitute keeper behind Patrick Drewes, who has now moved to BVB, before standing between the posts for the Ruhr club from matchday 22 onwards. In 13 games so far, the long-serving Cologne player has kept 3 clean sheets.
"Timo is an absolute team player, has asserted himself with his quality and is our undisputed number one. His experience is a real asset for our team," said managing director Dirk Dufner.
Horn himself explained his decision to stay: “I'm delighted to be standing between the posts at Bochum for the next few years. I've felt very much at home here in Bochum since day one and have a strong bond with the club and its fans. My goal is to repay the trust placed in me with sporting achievements and to be successful together again.”
Bochum have already signed 8(!) new players for next season - with Horn's decision to stay at the club, Bochum seem well equipped for a return to the Bundesliga next year.
