Uncertainty over Dylan Levitt’s future at United despite impressive season in Scotland | OneFootball

Looking back at our loan spells down the years, you would have to say that quite a few end up being a waste of time.

Sadly, that was the case for Dylan Levitt last season. Maybe not a complete ‘waste of time’ as footballers can always learn from new experiences in their career, as well as making lifelong friends and connections along the way.

The Wales international, who has been at Manchester United since he was 5-years-old, had loan stints in the Championship and Croatia, but they didn’t quite go to plan.

To Levitt’s credit, however, he has become a fans’ favourite during his season-loan at Dundee United.

The 21-year-old midfielder was voted Fans’ Player of the Year, but he is still waiting to find out whether he has a future at Old Trafford, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Levitt has already expressed how he was excited to work under new United manager Erik ten Hag in an interview with Courier, saying, “with the new manager [ten Hag] going in at United, hopefully, I’ll get a chance.”

It goes without saying that Levitt has impressed while on loan in the Scottish Premiership. Meanwhile, Stretty News understands that Celtic and Rangers are watching the young central midfielder closely, who has also been tipped to stay at Tannadice.

Dundee United manager Tam Courts has already publicly stated that Levitt as a target ahead of the transfer window, though he is wary that they won’t be the only club interested in securing his signature.

“You can see why the Dundee United fans rate Dylan,” Courts said (via Daily Record). “You only have to look at the big moments he has in a United shirt.

“The stats tell you when Dylan is in the team you have a higher chance of performing well and winning. He seems really content at home at the club and he is stepping up at a crucial stage in the season.

“That is something Tony Asghar is seeing as a priority. I wouldn’t say there have been regular discussions but there have certainly been discussions happening.

“We would want to keep Dylan if it was possible and to build a team around him. Hopefully, that is something we can make a reality but at the same token, you realise the potential he has.

“He is in a privileged position where he will have a good number of clubs wanting to sign him this summer. He also values what he has got with us highly and we bring out all the qualities he has in the way we want to play football.”

Hopefully United can make a decision soon and Levitt can focus on his football.

After getting so many minutes this season at Dundee United, it wouldn’t surprise me if Levitt returned to Scotland, though I hope it’s on loan rather than a permanent move.
