Bayer Leverkusen were left with their heads in their hands on Saturday after finally losing a Bundesliga match.
The German champions welcomed RB Leipzig to town and Jeremie Frimpong and Alejandro Grimaldo put the hosts up 2-0 by the break.
However, the visitors showed they are more than fine after the departure of Dani Olmo to Barcelona.
Kevin Kampl hinted at a comeback just as the half-time whistle went before a second-half brace from Lois Openda completely turned things around.
Leverkusen failed to pull off a last-ditch win (as we’ve seen many times in the past) and instead see their unbeaten league run end after 35 games. The last time they lost in the German top flight was May 2023.
Back to the drawing board for Xabi Alonso.
