A bid from Turkey had been the only opposition to the UK and Ireland but Turkey have received a green light from UEFA to bid alongside Italy as co-hosts for the 2032 edition of the tournament. With that request ratified, they have opted not to run for Euro 2028.

Games in the UK and Ireland are set to be held across all five nations, with 10 stadiums across England (London, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham), Wales (Cardiff), Scotland (Glasgow), Ireland (Dublin) and Northern Ireland (Belfast) set to be used.

While the Euro 2020 final was dotted around the continent and the semi-finals and final were held at Wembley, 2028 will mark the first men’s international tournament hosted entirely in the UK since Euro 1996 took place in England.
