The FA Cup meeting between Midlands rivals West Brom and Wolves was suspended with eight minutes of play remaining following violent clashes between supporters.
The fixture always had the potential to be a powder keg as it is the first time the clubs have met with fans in the stadium in 12 years.
After Wolves took a 2-0 lead in the closing stages through Matheus Cunha, fights broke out between the two sets of supporters close to the away end which led to fans spilling onto the field.
There are claims that Wolves fans being in the home end may have led to the initial incidents.
After an almost 25-minute stoppage in play, the game eventually resumed and the final minutes were played out without incident.
