Raul Jimenez took Wolves into the quarter-finals of the Europa League as his early penalty gave Nuno’s side safe passage into the last eight.

The Midlands side were made to work for their victory with Olympiacos having a goal chalked off in the first half.

But the Molineux outfit did just enough and will now face Sevilla in the last eight.

Basel booked their place in the last eight this evening after beating Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 this evening.

The Swiss side were 3-0 up from the first leg and made sure of progression as Fabien Frei netted late on to give them a comfortable aggregate win.

They now face Shakhtar in Köln next week.

Bayer Leverkusen were already 3-1 up from the first leg back at Ibrox, so were very much in the driving seat here as Steven Gerrard’s side came to town.

The first half was a bit of a non-event but just after the break Moussa Diaby opened the scoring to put the German outfit into the quarter-finals.

Sevilla 2-0 Roma

Scorers: Reguillon (22), En-Nesyri 44

The first leg back in March was postponed due to the pandemic so this one-legged affair was winner takes all in Duiburg.

The Spanish side were by far the better team on the night, blowing Roma in the first half thanks to goals from Sergio Reguilon and Youssef En-Nesyri.

And the Italian side’s misery was compounded in the ninth minute of injury time when Gianluca Mancini was shown a straight red for a malicious elbow.
