Make sense so far? Well, not for long.

European football’s governing body have confirmed on Friday that although the competition will take place next year, it will still be known officially as the already trademarked Euro 2020.

Confused? So are we. And the explanation offered by Uefa is a little strange.

“That is staging a truly Europe-wide event that befits the tournament’s 60th birthday.

“The tournament will still be known as Uefa Euro 2020.”

Even if it isn’t quite an anniversary anymore, it still gets that title.

To be fair, as long as we do get to enjoy the tournament as originally planned, Uefa can call it whatever they like!

UPDATE: Uefa now claim that their earlier statement was issued in error and no decision has been reached as yet.

It seems everyone is going a little crazy without football.
