Uefa have confirmed that VAR will be used in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.
Video Assistant Referees have not been used in Europe’s top club competitions so far this season, but Uefa have now confirmed that they will use VAR from February.
President Aleksander Čeferin has previously stated that the video review system would only be implemented from the season starting 2019/20.
But after successful usage in the World Cup and in almost all of Europe’s top five major leagues, VAR will now be part of Tuesday and Wednesday nights from this season’s knockout rounds.
It’s also been confirmed that the Europa League final will also have VAR.
