One of the most impressive teams in Europe this season, Napoli take on Rangers in their fifth Champions League group-stage game on Wednesday evening.

When these two teams last met, it ended in a 3-0 victory for the team from Naples. Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst was getting loads of sticks from the club supporters and the Scottish media following a series of poor results back then.

But since the defeat to Napoli, the situation has improved a bit for the Dutchman, with his team, despite failing to win a game in the Champions League, having registered four wins and one draw in the Scottish Premiership on the trot.

Therefore, having played four matches in the Champions League this season, Rangers remain winless. Napoli have not secured the top spot in their respective group yet, meaning that the match against the side from Scotland still holds some significance.

Results in the last five matches in all competitions:

Napoli: W-W-W-W-W

Rangers: W-L-W-W-D

Since returning from injury, Victor Osimhen has continued to fire on all cylinders. But he might get some rest against Rangers on Wednesday. André-Frank Zambo Anguissa has been added to the squad list and should play a part in midweek’s game. Amir Rrahmani remains sidelined with a thigh injury.

Ianis Hagi has not made a recovery since undergoing knee surgery. Filip Helander and John Souttar have been long-term absentees for Wednesday’s visitors. Connor Goldson will miss the game through a hamstring injury. Tom Lawrence’s knee injury will keep him on the sideline.
