As a result of their unstoppable 2020/21 season, Barcelona have cleaned up at this year’s UEFA Awards.

The Catalonians scooped three record titles this year, establishing themselves as one of the best teams in the world.

Barca have now won a record amount of Primera Iberdrola (6) and Copa de la Reina (8) titles. Their run in the league was almost perfect – finishing the season with 33 wins out of 34 games played while scoring an astonishing 167 goals.

However, the achievement that really sealed the deal for them was their historic Champions League win.

Lluís Cortés led his side to their first ever European title – making history as the first Spanish side in the tournament’s history to lift the cup.

UEFA Awards winners

Player of the Year – Alexia Putellas

The 27-year-old was named alongside Chelsea’s Jorginho as the respective winners of the Women’s and Men’s Player of the Year Award.

Coach of the Year – Lluís Cortés

Cortes was named Coach of the Year ahead of Sweden’s Peter Gerhardsson and Chelsea’s Emma Hayes.

Goalkeeper of the Season – Sandra Paños

In a tough category, Paños came out on top above Ann Katrin-Berger of Chelsea and former PSG goalkeeper Christiane Endler.

Defender of the Season – Irene Paredes

Centre-back Paredes finished above her defensive partner Mapi Leon and Chelsea captain Magdalena Eriksson.

Midfielder of the Season – Alexia Putellas

Putellas beat her teammate Aitana Bonmati for this award as well as Chelsea’s Ji So-yun.

Forward of the Season – Jennifer Hermoso

It was a three-horse race consisting of all Barcelona players for this award. Hermoso came out on top, finishing above colleagues Lieke Martens and Caroline Graham Hansen.
