UEFA have announced the 11 nominees for the 2017/18 Goal of the Season award.

It probably won’t surprise you to learn that Cristiano Ronaldo’s sensational bicycle kick against future club Juventus is in the running for the award.

But it probably will surprise you to learn that Gareth Bale’s own bicycle kick in the Champions League final has missed out.

That’s because only one goal could be nominated from each UEFA competition, meaning Ronaldo is flying the flag for the Champions League.
