맨시티의 베르나르두, 디아스 UEFA 네이션스 리그 우승

맨체스터 시티(맨시티)의 '포르투갈 듀오' 후벵 디아스와 베르나르두 실바가 나란히 국가대표팀과 함께 유럽축구연맹(UEFA) 네이션스 리그 우승을 차지했다.

포르투갈은 9일(한국시각) 독일 뮌헨의 알리안츠 아레나에서 라이벌 스페인과 격돌한 2024/25 UEFA 네이션스 리그 결승전 전후반과 연장전을 2-2 무승부로 마쳤으나 승부차기 끝에 5-3으로 승리하며 우승을 차지했다.

디아스는 이날 풀타임을 소화했으며 베르나르두는 선발 출전 후 74분간 활약했다.

이날 경기에서 스페인은 전반전 마르틴 수비멘디가 라민 야말의 크로스를 선제골로 연결하며 리드를 잡았지만, 포르투갈은 누누 멘데스가 동점골을 기록하며 1-1로 균형을 이뤘다. 디아스가 스페인의 공격을 끊어내며 시작된 역습이 동점골로 이어졌다.

그러나 스페인은 45분 미켈 오야르사발이 감각적인 마무리로 득점하며 리드를 되찾았다.

Portugal responded on the hour mark through Ronaldo’s prodded volley and that’s the way it would remain all the way through to the end of extra time.

Spain striker Alvaro Morata was the only man to miss his penalty, leaving Al Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves to hit the winning spot kick.

It's Portugal's second UEFA Nations League triumph, having won the trophy in its inaugural edition in 2018/19.

Meanwhile, Rodri was not part of Spain's squad for this international break.

The Ballon d'Or winner only briefly returned to the pitch in City's penultimate Premier League game of the season following a lengthy injury layoff.

Earlier in the day, France were 2-0 victors over Germany in the third place play-off with goals from Kylian Mbappe and Michael Olise.
