Ex-Roma and Udinese forward Andrea Carnevale weighed in on tomorrow evening’s league meeting between his two former sides in Friuli.
The 63 year-old, who’s also Udinese’s Director of Scouting, believes even a draw would be a valuable result for the hosts in their fight to avoid relegation.
“Clearly, this Roma is a tough opponent. However, I am convinced that De Rossi will rotate the squad: his team has expended quite a bit of physical and mental energy to defeat Milan on Thursday.”
“I think [Paulo] Dybala will be rested, but he won’t be the only one,” he stated.
“What can Udinese do? In my opinion, they showed they’re a team with strong values, especially in the game against Inter. , especially against league-leaders Inter, that they are a team with strong values. They only suffered a defeat in extra time when they down to ten men.”
Adding, “That significant performance should generate confidence and the right motivation to effectively withstand the Giallorossi. Let’s not write off [Gabriele] Cioffi’s team. Though, everyone has to contribute more right now, even the players that haven’t played a lot.”
“The team has the necessary technical and mental resources required to remain in Serie A and avoid relegation. I think they’ll make it, I’ll reiterate my stance that it’s a team with significant potential.”
