Udinese have reportedly inquired about the possibility of signing Lazio midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli who’s fate remains uncertain.
The Biancocelesti signed the 27-year-old last summer on a free transfer after being released from his contract with Fiorentina on the back of a few injury-plagued campaigns. Nevertheless, the Euro 2020 star has yet to flourish in Rome, especially with his physical problems hampering his momentum. He has only made seven appearances in Serie A this season (only once as a starter), while he hasn’t even been included in the Europa League squad.
In recent weeks, there have been growing speculations over the player’s future, with some sources claiming he and Lazio could decide to part ways in January rather than see out the season, although this theory has become increasingly unlikely with Matias Vecino ruled out of action for a couple of months.
Nevertheless, Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla reveals that Udinese could be an option for the former Fiorentina man. As the transfer market insider explained, the Zebrette didn’t run an in-depth survey on the player, but they probed about his availability. The Friulians could potentially suggest an exchange with one of their players.
Hence, it remains to be seen whether or not Castrovilli will be at Formello by the end of the January transfer session. But in the meantime, the Biancocelesti will be looking to bolster their ranks with a young midfielder, although his identity remains unclear at this stage.
