Udinese Technical Director Gianluca Nani insists the Bianconeri don’t want to sell Lazar Samardzic but confirms Milan have opened preliminary talks for the Serbia international.

Samardzic has emerged as one of Milan’s targets to strengthen their midfield this season.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Rossoneri will soon make an opening €15m bid for the 22-year-old, but Sky Sport claims that Udinese are aiming for over €20m.

“Samardzic is a Udinese player who we don’t want to sell because he is important,” Bianconeri director Nanni told Sky Sport on Tuesday.

“Obviously, if we receive an adequate proposal, it’s part of our job to evaluate it with the footballer and entourage and the team interested. Samardzic is not a player we are offering to other clubs because we think he is important.”

Samardzic underwent medical tests with Milan’s city rivals Inter last season, but the midfielder’s agent and father failed to reach an agreement with the Nerazzurri.

“There was a quick contact [with Milan], but no offer or negotiation yet,” Nanni confirmed.

“He is a Udinese player right now, and we want to keep him.

“I’d be surprised if top clubs did not look for him. Inter, Lazio, and some Premier League clubs have done so in the past. He is a strong player, and of course, he is requested, which is a source of pride for us.”

Samardzic has 13 goals and nine assists in 97 appearances across all competitions with Udinese and his contract with the Bianconeri runs out in June 2026.

The Serbia international contributed to Udinese’s Serie A survival last season with six goals and two assists in 34 league games.
