Sottil said: "It was to be expected that this period would be a grind; we specifically chose this as our preparation. I'm really happy with how the lads approached the game; they always give their all. Everyone who took to the field did so with the aim of winning. I was delighted with how we responded after going behind.

"As for the fact that many youngsters got game time during this series of friendlies, I was keen to get a view of all of my players and give them a chance. If they're Udinese players it's because they deserve to be, and they've shown me this. They've got experienced heads alongside them to show them the way.

"While I'm fully satisfied with how this training camp has gone, I'm gutted to have lost Tolgay Arslan and Becao to injury; I hope they recover soon. The core of our approach is to play good football; that's what I've always believed in. I'm content with how the lads have approached these games. In my book there's no such thing as a friendly; every match forges your identity.

"With regards to our next opponents Chelsea, I'm hoping Dacia Arena sells out. We're facing a great team. We're taking tomorrow off then we'll start thinking about how the Coppa Italia game will shape up."
