Most of their players were predominantly in the opposition half while they played with a relatively higher defensive line near the centre.

Wolfsburg took the field in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Lukas Nmecha leading the charge supported by Dodi Lukebakio , Renato Steffen and Ridie Bote.

They played with a low defensive line deep in their half with only the attacking players in the other half.

The home side had 13 shots in all with six of them on target, scoring thrice from an xG of 2.17. The visitors had only five shots in total with only two of them on target, scoring only once with an xG of 0.67. Salzburg dominated the possession throughout the match.

Luka Sucic had the most attempts during the match(4) while Noah Okafor had the highest xG with 1.23 in the game. Maximilian Wobber, Maximilian Arnold and Luka Sucic all had the most final third passes with eight.

The home side had most of their shots inside the area, scoring thrice from there. They kept most of their shots on target forcing the keeper into making a lot of saves. Salzburg did take a few shots from distance but were way off target.

Wolfsburg really struggled in front of goal failing to even get a considerable amount of shots off. They had only one shot from inside the box, scoring their only goal. Other than that, they failed to enter the box, taking shots from long and straying off target.

xT timeline shows that RB Salzburg started the match on the stronger foot scoring just within a couple of minutes. Wolfsburg got back into the game a few minutes later while the rest of the half was equally poised. The second half was mainly dominated by the Germans but they failed to threaten in front of goal while the Austrian side scored whenever they got the chance increasing the lead to 3-1 and won the game.

Jerome Onguene attempted the most passes(61) while also receiving the most with 51 as Salzburg had 55% of the ball.

Wolfsburg had 45% of possession with Kevin Mbabu playing the most passes(59) and receiving the most as well(33).

The home team played the majority of their passes near the left flank in midfield, attempting six smart passes, a couple of them being successful. They delivered only a few crosses into the box but all were unsuccessful.

The visitors played the most passes in the defensive third and right side of the midfield, playing only one unsuccessful smart pass. Baku played in the most crosses with three.

Salzburg had the highest xT creation zones inside the penalty area. Onguene was the most accurate passer with 96.61% accuracy. Rasmus Kristensen had the highest xT from passes(0.48) while Karim Adeyemi was the best dribbler with an xT of 0.101.

Wolfsburg had the most xT zones near both the wings with John Brooks being the most efficient passer in the ranks with an accuracy of 90.48%.

Renato Steffen was the most dangerous passe with 0.34 xT while Kevin Mbabu lead the charts for dribbles(0.061)

Salzburg had mostly neutral outcomes from their defensive duels but lost a big chunk of them too. Adeyemi and Kristensen were both unimpressive losing five duels each.

They were slightly better in terms of aerial duels. Kristensen won the most among the players with three successful outcomes. Onguene was impressive.

The home side lost most of their 50-50 duels higher up the pitch. Onguene and Kristensen both won two duels each while Adeyemi and Adamu both lost two duels each.

With most of the outcomes being neutral, Lukebakio lost five of his duels higher up the pitch while Brooks lost four times at the back.

They were way better in aerial duels. Maximilian Arnold won all of his duels. Vranckx and Nmecha both were impressive.

The visitors gave their best performance in loose ball recoveries. Mbabu won the highest duels in the team with four while Lukebakio won three in the final third. Lacroix won all of his duels.

RB Salzburg were the more clinical team among the two taking full advantage of the chances they created. They were really great in front of the goal while Wolfsburg struggled in doing the same even after putting up a resilient performance. The German side would be really disappointed failing to take any points from the game.
