They played with an extremely high defensive line with the centre-backs pushing up near the centre while all other players spent time mostly in the other half.

Malmo started with a 3-5-2 formation with Antonio Colak and Vejko Birmancevi upfront in attack.

They spent most of the time in their half with a very low defensive line with almost all their players predominantly in that half.

Chelsea had 18 attempts in total with seven of them on target scoring four goals with an xG of 2.68. Malmo had only two shots failing to keep a single one on target, naturally not scoring any goal from an xG of 0.21. The Blues dominated the possession heavily.

Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell had the most shots in the match(3) while Jorginho had the highest xG of 1.52. Thiago Silva had the most final third passes with 19.

The home side had a lot of shots during the match, mostly inside the box. They scored all of their goals from there but were not very clinical in front of goal. They won the match comprehensively but the majority of their shots were way off target. The visitors rarely posed a threat in the final third with just two shots to show from. One of the shots was inside the box and the other was from distance but both of them were off target. xT timeline shows that Chelsea dominated the majority of the game from the beginning. They kept on scoring in intervals and kept on increasing their lead. Malmo tried to take control during the last half hour of the match but was of no use. 72% of the possession belonged to Chelsea as Thiago Silva played the most passes (93) while also being at the receiving end most of the time (79).

Bonke Innocent attempted the most passes(29) and Sergio Pena received the most(20) as Malmo had only 28% of the ball.

The Blues played most of their passes near the right wing, attempting three smart passes, all being unsuccessful. They delivered most of their crosses from the right side of the box with Mount registering seven crosses to his name.Malmo played passes mainly at the back in the defensive third. They played three smart passes all of them being unsuccessful while sending in only one cross into the box.

Chelsea had the most xT near the centre and in the penalty area- on both sides. Ngolo Kante was the most clinical passer of the ball with 96.23% accuracy.

Mason Mount was the most threatening passer with an xT of 0.81 which was certainly lowered due to lots of mispassing. Timo Werner was the best sribbler with 0.128 xT.

The visitors created the most xT on the left wing. Eric Larsson was the best passer with 89.47% accuracy.

Sergio Pena had the highest xT from passes with 0.15 while Jo Berget lead the chart for dribbles with an xT of 0.026 which was lowered due to unsuccessful attempts.

Chelsea did not engage in a lot of defensive duels at the back while losing a lot of them higher up the pitch. Ben Chilwell won the most duels with three while Jorginho and Mount both lost out on five occasions each.

They were way better in terms of aerial duels performance. Thiago Silva with his towering presence won four duels at the back while Saul Niguez won all of his four duels.

It was a mixed performance in 50-50 ball recoveries. Ngolo Kante won the most with four successful outcomes while Jorginho lost four duels. Chilwell lost all of his duels.

Malmo won the majority of their defensive duels. Lasse Nelsen won the most with five successful outcomes. Eric Larsson lost out on four occasions.

It was a mediocre performance from them in the air. Berget won the most among the ranks with three. Colak lost four duels higher up the pitch while Nalic lost all of his duels.

They were impressive in terms of 50-50 duels. Rakip and Abdul Malik both won all of their duels. Innocent and Pena lost two each.

Chelsea were deservedly the winners of the clash as they blew away their opponents at home. They were the best team while going forward and did not had to do much defending while dominating possession. Though they could have still done better in front of goal. Malmo did put up a resilient defensive performance but it was not enough to tame a free flowing Chelsea at the Bridge.
