Manchester City v Borussia Dortmund

Scorers: Stones 80′, Haaland 84′; Bellingham 56′

Manchester City came from behind to score two late goals and beat Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad.

Erling Haaland went up against his old side as the Norwegian looked to continue his remarkable goalscoring run in the Champions League.

It was the usual monopoly of possession for the home side early on as Pep Guardiola’s men bided their time to try and find an opening in the opposition defence.

Into the second half and the best chance early on went to Dortmund as Marco Reus raced in on goal but saw his effort go just wide of the far post.

And they made that pressure pay as Jude Bellingham headed in after Reus’ smart cross.

But with 10 minutes to go John Stones grabbed an equaliser as the centre back powered in a 25 yard effort.

Pep Guardiola’s side were going for the winner now and got it soon after as Haaland found space and volleyed in.

Chelsea v Salzurg

Scorers: Sterling 48′; Okafor 74′

The Graham Potter era didn’t get off to the best start as Chelsea could only draw 1-1 with Salzburg

Potter took charge of Chelsea for the very first time as the Blues hosted Salzburg, looking to claim their first Champions League win of the season.

But it was a stodgy for half an hour for the west London side as they struggled to make the most of their 75 per cent possession.

After the break it didn’t take long for Chelsea to finally break the deadlock as Raheem Sterling curled one into the bottom corner.

Things didn’t stay rosy for the Blues though as Noah Okafor got in front of Cesar Azpilicueta and flicked in an equaliser.

Rangers v Napoli

Scorers: Politano (PEN) 68′, Raspadori 84′, Ndombele 90+1.

A mad-cap second half saw Napoli miss two penalties but score another to beat Rangers 3-0.

Ibrox hosted a Champions League game for the first time in over a decade as Napoli came to Glasgow.

The occasion seemed to get to the Gers early on as Napoli rattled the post with an effort inside five minutes.

They soon pulled themselves together though and forced Alex Meret into a smart save after good work by Scott Arfield.

Into the second half and Rangers were soon down to 10 men as James Sands was sent off for a last ditch challenge with Napoli getting a penalty.

Piotr Zielinski missed the initial penalty but it was brought back after encroaching with the Poland international then having his second effort saved again.

Soon after Napoli got their third penalty of the night after a handball inside the area and this time Matteo Politano scored.

The Italians then made it two late on as Giacomo Raspadori struck home from 12 yards out before Tanguy Ndombele added a third.

Real Madrid v RB Leipzig

Scorers: Valverde 79′, Asensio 90+2′

Real Madrid weren’t at their best but still managed to beat RB Leipzig 2-0.

Eden Hazard was dropped to the bench as Real Madrid were without Karim Benzema for their clash with RB Leipzig.

But it was the pitch that took the headlines early on as the Santiago Bernabèu turf looked dry and bumpy.

The away side were perturbed by that though and almost went ahead on the half hour mark as Timo Werner used his pace to get in behind but his cross across the box couldn’t be met.

Los Blancos eventually got their first shot on target with 15 minutes to go as Vinicius Jnr had an effort saved with ease.

With 10 minutes remaining however, Real Madrid took the lead.

Fede Valverde jinked past his man on the edge of the area and then slotted a low shot into the bottom corner.

And in added time the home side doubled their advantage through Marco Asensio.

Maccabi Haifa v PSG

Scorers: Chery 24′; Messi 37′, Mbappe 69′, Neymar 88′

The Paris Saint-Germain Holy Trinity score all the goals as they beat Maccabi Haifa 3-1.

Paris Saint-Germain travelled to Maccabi Haifa looking to claim two wins from two in their quest to win the Champions League for the first time.

But it was the home side who took a shock lead on 24 minutes as Tjaronn Chery tapped in at the far post.

PSG soon got themselves back on level terms though as Lionel Messi found space inside the area and poked in.

After the break and the away side finally got themselves ahead as Kylian Mbappe was played in on goal and coolly netted from inside the area.

Neymar didn’t want to be left out of the scoring and found a goal late on after a nice finish one-on-one.

Juventus v Benfica

Scorers: Milik 4′; Joao Mario (PEN) 43′, Neres 55′

Juventus struggled at home once again as they lost 2-1 to Benfica with the pressure building on Max Allegri.

Juventus were aiming to bounce back after their defeat to PSG last time out as Benfica came to Turin.

And it wasn’t long before the Bianconeri were head as Milik headed in after just four minutes.

Youngster Fabio Miretti undid a lot of that good work near the end of the half though, as he gave away a penalty that Joao Mario dispatched.

Benfica enjoyed some more pressure in the second half as David Neres smashed in a rebound to give the Portuguese the lead.

Copenhagen v Sevilla

Scorers:

Copenhagen and Sevilla played out a bore draw as neither side inspired at the Parken Stadium.

Sevilla travelled to the Danish capital hoping to forget about their defeat to Manchester City last time around.

They almost got off to the perfect start but Ivan Rakitic’s close range effort ballooned just over the crossbar.

Shakhtar Donetsk v Celtic

Scorers: Mudryk 29′; Bondarenko (OG) 11′

A valiant Celtic side missed a host of gilt-edged chances as they drew 1-1 with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Celtic were looking for their first win of the group stage as they hoped to bounce back after last week’s defeat to Real Madrid.

And they opened the scoring inside 12 minutes as Reo Hatate broke from midfield and finished smartly before Artem Bondarenko poked into his own goal.

Despite enjoying most of the possession it wasn’t long before the Hoops were pegged back as Mykhalo Mudryk’s rasping effort hit the roof of the net.

After the break the Scottish side seemed to respond to whatever Ange Postecoglu had said in the dressing room and pushed for a second goal.

It was Jota who went closest to scoring as he jinked his way past four Shakhtar defenders but couldn’t sort his feet out in time to finish.

Daizen Maeda and Aaron Mooy then struck wide from close range late on as the SPL outfit had to settle for a draw.

Milan v Dinamo Zagreb

Scorers: Giroud (PEN) 45′, Saelemaekers 47′, Pobega 77′; Oršić 56′

Milan showed their class as they beat Dinamo Zagreb 3-1 to claim their first Champions League win of the season.

Dinamo Zagreb shocked Chelsea last time and were looking to do the same thing again this evening at San Siro.

Milan draw with Salzburg last time out started this game on the front foot with Rafael Leao looking dangerous in attack.

It was a fairly insipid half with the Rossoneri having 10 shots on goal but very rarely troubling the Dinamo goalkeeper.

But they did eventually find their way to goal as Olivier Giroud dispatched a penalty right at the death.

Into the second half and almost immediately Milan got their second thanks to Alexis Saelemaekers.

But the Croatian outfit pulled one back soon after as Mislav Oršić finished off a smart move.

The Italian champions soon re-established their two-goal lead however as Tommaso Pobega rifled in from close range.
