The Champions League group stage is back after another long international break.
Let’s take a look at what’s in store for matchday three.
Atlético v Liverpool
We always enjoy these two facing off because they are the antithesis of each other; in style, philosophy, tactics and everything in between.
Liverpool look frightening again with Virgil van Dijk back in the side and Mohamed Salah scoring a Goal of the Season contender every week, after their slight dip last season.
But despite Atlético’s patchy form, they are a side for the big occasion and will fancy themselves at home in front of a stacked Wanda Metropolitano.
The Reds will be keen for Anfield revenge – but beware the sucker punch.
🔮 Our prediction: Atlético 1-2 Liverpool
PSG v RB Leipzig
This one will be more even than you think. PSG are stuttering under Mauricio Pochettino and despite their stacked squad, cannot get the best out of their outrageous frontline.
The Parisians will also be without Neymar – who returned injured from international duty – so that places extra onus on Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé to deliver.
But RB Leipzig are no joke and despite their patchy form, have players who can hurt PSG including the in-form Christopher Nkunku who already has eight goals this season.
🔮 Our prediction: PSG 2-1 RB Leipzig
Manchester United v Atalanta
Things aren’t looking so rosy at Old Trafford. With just two wins in their last seven matches, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is feeling the pressure despite recent public backing.
But one of those wins did come in the Champions League – narrowly edging past Villarreal on matchday two – and the Old Trafford club will want to repeat that result on Tuesday.
Group F table-toppers Atalanta, however, could prove to be tricky customers following their welcome return to goalscoring form – having netted seven goals in two games.
🔮 Our prediction: Man Utd 2-2 Atalanta
Erling Haaland
If his weekend performance was anything to go by, Erling Haaland is fit and firing once again after returning from injury.
The 21-year-old scored against Mainz – his 49th goal in 49 Bundesliga appearances for Borussia Dortmund – and will be hoping to repeat those antics against Ajax.
He seems to live for these big occasions and we’re betting on him to deliver.
