Heading into the upcoming summer window, Barcelona has a clear idea about what they want. The Catalan giants, for quite some time now, have their eyes set on a new pivot. Even now, many players continue to be linked to Barcelona because of that demand.

At the moment, there are already several reports claiming that Barcelona have acquired at least one pivot for next season. The name of Guido Rodriguez, currently a Real Betis player, is already being reported as a new Barça signing. However, Barcelona do not wish to stop there when it comes to finding a new pivot.

Another name that was on their list was that of a former UEFA Champions League winner with Chelsea and European Championship winner with Italy. Jorginho, currently at Arsenal, was one of the names that Barcelona were reportedly targeting as a possible arrival for the summer.

However, it would now appear that the possibility of that happening has greatly diminished. As per SPORT, the 32-year-old Italian midfielder is already negotiating a renewal with Arsenal and will most likely not be a free agent in the summer as Barcelona had originally hoped he would become.

Instead, he reportedly plans to stick with Arsenal for one more season at least. Mikel Arteta, head coach of the Gunners, is already more than convinced with his attitude and performances, and has opened the door for him to continue with the London-based side for another campaign.

This information has also been conveyed to his agent, Joao Santos, as per the report. Previously, Santos had met with officials from Barcelona to talk about a potential move for Jorginho over to Spain.

However, the move did not materialize when Mateu Alemany was in charge, and it seems that it will not come to fruition with Deco at the helm either.

Instead, Jorginho remains committed to Arsenal and keeps them as his first priority. For him, the choice was always to listen to the English side first before even considering a second option away from the club.

The former Chelsea man seems to now be fully committed to his new home in London, and FC Barcelona will understandably take their interest elsewhere.
