Nottingham Forest are one of several Sky Bet Championship clubs who are said to be interested in signing Wycombe Wanderers striker Uche Ikpeazu, as per a recent post by Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas on Twitter.

The 26-year-old was certainly one of the few shining lights for the Chairboys as they eventually succumbed to relegation and could well be open to staying in the second tier.

With Millwall, Middlesbrough and Derby County also said to be interested, Forest will have to act fast if they are to get their hands on the target man this summer.

Here, we took some time to weigh Ikpeazu’s potential move to the City Ground up as the transfer window kicks off.

Is it a good potential move?

The Reds are certainly in the market for a new striker this summer after bidding farewell to Glenn Murray and the Wycombe man would arguably be a like for like replacement.

He currently has a few years remaining on his contract at Adams Park, however with the financial effects of the pandemic still being felt by many clubs up and down the country, the Buckinghamshire outfit could be open to selling the striker for a knock down price.

Forest would be acquiring a player who is moving into his prime years and Chris Hughton will no doubt see him as a player that he can continue to improve over time.

Would he start?

The striking berth at Forest is arguably the most open it has been for years, with none of their current options in that area of the field having been prolific of late.

Ikpeazu would fit in well alongside either Lewis Grabban or Lyle Taylor up top and arguably has every chance of becoming a regular starter if he can hit the ground running in a red shirt.

Pre-season will determine who will get that starting spot up top and it would be fair to assume that the 26-year-old would be given every chance to impress.

What does he offer?

A dominant physical presence that can cause havoc in the box, Ikpeazu isn’t your usual target man as he is a player who is happy to receive the ball to feet and bring others into play as opposed to just challenging for aerial balls.

He is capable of playing as both a lone striker and as a part of a front two and would provide the Reds with a great focal point from which they can build attacks.

Add to this his obvious threat in and around the penalty area and there’s no reason why he can’t be a success of Trentside if he does indeed decide to move to the Midlands.
