Italy will be in the same group as Spain, Romania and hosts Slovakia in the 2025 European Under-21 Championship.
The draw was held this evening for the tournament, which will run in Slovakia from June 11 to 28, 2025.
The Azzurrini were in Pot 2 for the draw, along with Germany, France and Ukraine.
It is going to be a tough group for U21 coach Carmine Nunziata, who will have to battle it out with hosts Slovakia, Romania and competition favourites Spain.
The top two teams in each group go through to the quarter-finals, after which there will be a standard knockout format with extra time and penalties if needed.
Italy and Spain are the most successful nations in the history of the European Under-21 Championship, winning the trophy five times apiece.
Among the current U21 players in the Italy squad is Edoardo Bove, who is in intensive care after collapsing during Fiorentina-Inter.
