The side, which was coached by Gareth Taylor last season had lifted the U18 Premier League Cup and were 12 points clear at the top of the league with just five games remaining when football was suspended in March.

We had won 14 of our 17 games and end the campaign 10.1 points ahead of second placed Liverpool, who had trailed us by 12 points when the season was curtailed.

The points per game decision means City’s Elite Development Squad (EDS) finished ninth in the Premier League 2, with 25.7 points.

Paul Harsley’s side were eighth on 21 points before the campaign ended, but have been leapfrogged by Blackburn Rovers.

The Premier League have also confirmed, that with three new Category One academies entering the Premier League 2 Division Two next season, there will be an additional team in Division One, meaning the EDS will be one of 13 sides.
