January 3 marks one of the most significant dates in the modern history of Saudi Arabian football, when in 2023 Cristiano Ronaldo was presented at a glittering ceremony at a sold-out Al Awwal Park.
The Portuguese superstar, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner and arguably the most recognisable athlete in sport, had agreed to a two-and-a-half-year deal with Roshn Saudi League club Al Nassr, and has since gone on to have an unprecedented influence in the Kingdom – both on and off the pitch.
Last season, Ronaldo netted 35 goals in the RSL to set a competition record for goals in a single campaign, giving the Al Nassr captain a first RSL golden boot.
He doesn’t appear prepared to let that individual accolade go without a fight: with 10 goals in the 2024-25 RSL as the league gets set to resume next week, Ronaldo sits joint-second in the current scoring charts.
So, to mark the two-year anniversary of that starry night in Riyadh, we’ve broken down some of the standout RSL stats of Ronaldo’s legendary time in the Saudi top flight.
