Two-time Ligue-1 winner faces uncertain West Ham future

West Ham United had quite an exciting summer transfer window. Bringing in some key reinforcements, such as the likes of Summerville, Kilman, and Guido Rodriguez, the Hammers had the view of eyeing a better finish than they achieved in the 2023/24 campaign. However, while some of their completed deals have felt spot on, some of their transfers have had quite a hot and cold time so far.

One such case has been of 27-year-old midfielder Carlos Soler. Coming on the back of two trophy-winning campaigns with French Giants, PSG, Soler had made a loan move to West Ham, intending to shine in the biggest European league. However, reports suggest that the hierarchy at the Hammers isn't highly convinced by the box-to-box midfielder's presence so far in the season.

Carlos Soler had an impressive start to his West Ham career, but the midfielder has been unable to replicate his heroics consistently. While he had a decent final half an hour in the club's underwhelming loss against Tottenham, he looked quite off, out of his conventional role, in their recent outing against Manchester United.

Clearly, Soler hasn't been much at fault in his performances so far; however, the club's officials aren't very positive about keeping the player in their future plans. As per recent reports, the Spanish international, who is on a one-year loan at the Hammers, doesn't enjoy much backing from the club's board currently. Recently, a trusted report has revealed West Ham's stance on the midfielder's future, saying,

"“Soler is just a loan, and we have zero obligation to buy him.”"- Claret and Hugh

Analyzing the situation, although a £27 million clause is included in Soler's loan contract for a permanent move, chances seem less favorable for West Ham to trigger it. While certainly, the report goes against Soler's interest, who made a PL move just to seek regular game time, this decision might not be very questionable from the Hammers' fans' perspective.

Given that the club had spent more than £150 million over the summer, completing some massive signings, being reluctant to spend such a considerable fee seems appropriate. Overall, while there is still significant duration left in Soler's loan year, the midfield star might be back to PSG next summer, as things stand.
