This summer has been slow to get going in terms of transfers all the way across the top end of teams in Europe. But things are finally in motion now.

One of the major dominoes that needs to fall to get things moving is Victor Osimhen, the Nigeria striker who has been heavily linked with a move to PSG from Napoli for months.

At times it’s seemed like a done deal, but right now it’s looking very bogged down in details. Loic Tanzi of L’Equipe has today reported that the Parisians’ interest has “cooled” because they’re currently not able to shift either of their current options up top, Randal Kolo-Muani and Goncalo Ramos.

Osimhen sees his options to move drying up, and has even “spoken about staying in Naples,” an outcome which would surely be a big disappointment for him after pushing so long for a move and finally getting the green light to make his mega money transfer this summer – if someone can be found to pay for him.

The balance changes in the great game

A year or so ago, this news would have been considered disastrous by Chelsea fans because it would have meant that Osimhen isn’t coming to join us. But now the situation has changed – most Blues are actually supporting Osimhen’s move to PSG because it facilitates the Romelu Lukaku move to Napoli to replace him.

Without Osimhen going to Paris, Napoli don’t just not have the funds to sign Lukaku, they don’t have the need to. This could all be a ploy by PSG to back off and play it cool and force the Italians to cool off on some demands. But equally if Osimhen accepts he could stay and play under Antonio Conte, this could all be a major result for them and potentially change their prospects this season.
