Two new names set to join Xavi’s Barcelona staff – report | OneFootball

Despite the turbulent tides they have faced this season, Barcelona continue to survive somehow. Beyond their rather disappointing campaign, La Blaugrana also had worries away from the pitch as well. However, as time has passed, Barcelona has gradually sorted out most of those issues at hand.

One of the most pressing matters was the continuation or replacement of Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez. Up until the latest update, many people believed that the Barça coach would not continue beyond this season. Yet, after the official confirmation by Barcelona themselves, it appears that Xavi will indeed continue to fulfil his contractual obligations.

However, it seems that there may be some new faces in the management team after all. As per the latest information provided by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are set to introduce two new members to Xavi’s coaching staff and they hope that they both will be able to incorporate something positive into the team’s dynamics.

The first addition will reportedly be that of Julio Tous. Primarily a physical strength trainer, Tous has prior experience at Barcelona as well. Having worked at the club around 2004, he was present during one of president Laporta’s reigns in the past. Credited for his innovative methods to prevent injuries during gym work, Tous has had quite the career since then as well.

Working for several top sides since then, including the likes of Juventus, Chelsea, Inter Milan, and even the Italian National team, Tous is now reportedly set to return to Barcelona and help Xavi’s side out in terms of fitness, something that Barcelona clearly struggles with at the moment.

The other addition is speculated to be Raul Martinez. A physiotherapist by profession, Martinez has some big achievements under his belt already. During Spain’s golden period between 2008 and 2012, he was a crucial part of a team that dominated world football beyond compare.

He has also individually helped out several Barcelona icons of the past including Carles Puyol, David Villa, Andres Iniesta, and others. He is expected to continue working with Barcelona directly as he has been since the beginning of 2024, and his collaboration with the first team is expected to bring about positive changes as well.
