SCO Angers president Saïd Chabane has revealed in an interview with Prime Video that two Middle-Eastern clubs are interested in Sofiane Boufal (29).
Boufal is one of two Angers players who shone at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The former Southampton man, and Morocco teammate Azzedine Ounahi (22) both had stand-out World Cups, leading the Atlas Lions to a historic semi-final. Angers are currently bottom of Ligue 1 and managerless, and speaking ahead of the club’s loss against Ajaccio, Chabane said that two Middle-Eastern clubs were interested in Boufal.
Chabane said that two Middle-Eastern clubs, that he did not name, had made “interesting” offers. However, he added that the club have not yet spoken to Boufal in order to gauge his ambitions, whether he wants to stay at Angers, stay in Europe, or potentially act on one of the two interesting offers issuing from the Middle East. Chabane has said he would like to keep both Boufal and Ounahi, but accepts that the players may want to leave.
