Teun Koopmeiners is taking special measures to return for Juventus as quickly as possible, but the Bianconeri have two alternative options if the Dutchman is not able to return in time for next week’s fixtures against Lazio and VfB Stuttgart in Serie A and the Champions League.
Koopmeiners was called up for the Netherlands squad this international break, but returned to Juventus soon after the squads were announced. It has since been confirmed that he is suffering with a fractured rib.
There are currently no guarantees over his recovery time. La Gazzetta dello Sport write that he is pushing to be available for a spot on the bench when domestic action next weekend, while Tuttosport suggest that he could be absent for the next two matches after the break.
If Juventus do have to go without Koopmeiners, Thiago Motta may have to shuffle his pack. Wingers Nico Gonzalez and Francisco Conceicao are also out of the Lazio game due to injury and suspension respectively.
Juve will be hoping that Timothy Weah is fit and available to play against Lazio. If the USMNT forward is good to go, he could line up on the right wing with Kenan Yildi through the middle and Samuel Mbangula out on the left wing.
If Weah is also not able to play, it is likely that Yildiz and Mbangula will play on the wings, while Douglas Luiz could start in an advanced midfield role.
