Celtic getting fined by UEFA is nothing new and today’s news concerning two new fines relating back to the 3-1 Champions League win over RB Leipzig will make the headlines but the sums involved are small and the club is not on thin ice with these incidents.

The first relates to ‘blocking of public passage ways’ and that seems to be an ongoing issue, not just with Celtic but with all clubs with ultras among their support. Factoring that into the cost of staging the match is the way to go with that one.
The second fine relates to the wee boy who ran onto the pitch near the end and that was always going to result in a penalty for Celtic but not the kind we’d like.
Celtic have been fined €12,000 for the blocking of the passage ways and €15,000 for the wean running onto the pitch.
UEFA also issues two warnings to Celtic relating to a late-kick-off in Bergamo against Atlanta who have themselves been fines for flares and blocking of passageways.

The UEFA update reads as follows re the Celtic v RB Leipzig match: “Celtic FC Incidents and sanction:• Blocking of public passageways, Art. 38 UEFA Safety and Security Regulations Fine: €12,000• Invasion of the field of play, Art. 16(2)(a) DR Fine: €15,000.”
And on warning (no fines) re the Atalanta game in Bergamo: “Incidents and sanction:• Late kick-off, Art. 11(2)(h) DR Warning. Late kick-off (Mr. Brendan Rodgers), Art. 11(2)(h) DR Warning.”
Atalanta’s fines from the Celtic game are for the blocking of pubic passageways and also the lighting of fireworks, with the total being €19,000.

The crucial factor for Celtic supporters is that the support has heeded the warnings regarding pyros at Champions League games, so there is no ban coming our way for away support at matches, with games in Zagreb and Birmingham to come.
