Two goalkeepers on the bench gives funny impression that Pochettino is protesting about his squad | OneFootball

One curious thing about the Chelsea bench today is the fact that there are two goalkeepers on the bench.

Robert Sanchez keeps his place in goal, while new signing Djordje Petrovic gets his first callup to the squad after his work permit was approved in the last 24 hours.

But youth team keeper Lucas Bergstrom – widely expected to depart on loan at some point soon – kept his place, rather bizarrely.

People at stadium are joking that this is a protest from the manager aimed at the board about a lack of depth. That’s usually what it means when a coach names multiple goalies (or loads of youth teamers) on their bench.

Ok, we know it’s just a consequence of the injuries, but it’s still a funny image that Mauricio Pochettino is making a point to his board about a lack of signings and depth in the squad… following a year in which they’ve spent record breaking amounts of money.
