It has been quite evident all season long that a new type of training regime has come into play at FC Barcelona. With the introduction of Hansi Flick also came the arrival of a new set of demands and expectations in terms of overall physical preparation and intensity. While other coaches have focused on these aspects as well, the new Barcelona coach is a step above.
Many of the players have even acknowledged that the intensity and workload of the training sessions under Hansi Flick is something entirely new. As a consequence of these training sessions, moreover, the entirety of the Barcelona squad has looked much more capable of piling on the pressure in games and running non-stop.
However, after the recent loss to Real Sociedad, it seems that Hansi Flick is not at all satisfied with the performance he saw. Right after the game in the following recovery session, the German coach made sure to make all of his players take part in some exhaustive training sessions.
The substitutes in particular had to do a lot of extra work as compared to the players who started the previous game and were understanding more exhausted as a result. However, the sheer intensity and demands of this recent training session could be seen clearly through the reactions of two young players.
As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, both Gavi and Pau Victor looked to have collapse from exhaustion during the most recent training session that was conducted by Hansi Flick. However, this incident was rather amusing for the German coach, who seemed pleased with the effort.
The young 20-year-old midfielder did at least take part in the last outing as he came on in the final minutes of a rather intense match and tried his best to get Barcelona back into the game. Unfortunately, however, his efforts would prove to be fruitless as the Catalan giants ended up losing out on all three points.
Pau Victor, on the other hand, did end up coming on as well but barely for a few minutes. His involvement was quite less in the game compared to the kind of impact Gavi seemed to be having, but it seems that both Spaniards ended up feeling the extra weight of Hansi Flick’s intense demands in the most recent recovery session.
