Twenty years ago today, Ronaldo Nazario was unveiled as a Real Madrid player. After signing for our club on 31 August 2002, the Brazilian, one of the greatest strikers in the history of the game, checked in at the Santiago Bernabéu on 2 September. The forward was joined at his unveiling by Florentino Pérez and Alfredo Di Stéfano, who presented him with the number 11 shirt with which he begin his Real Madrid legacy.
Right from the outset, he demonstrated his amazing goalscoring ability. Indeed, it took him just seconds to open his account for the club as he netted in the meeting with Alavés at the Bernabéu. In total, Ronaldo hit 104 goals in his 177 outings in a madridista shirt.
The madridista fans enjoyed his talents for five seasons and he helped the club to one Intercontinental Cup, in which he was named Man of the Match, two LaLiga titles and a Spanish Super Cup. He also landed the Pichichi Trophy in the 2003/04 campaign and paraded the second Ballon d'Or of his career in front of the Santiago Bernabéu faithful.
