The best and funniest tweets that sum up the past weekend of football, featuring VAR, Sergio Aguero’s quality, the Dani Ceballos love-in, Steve Bruce ruining everything, and #LampardOut after three games.

Two weeks into the new Premier League season and it’s already getting interesting. Manchester City have dropped points for the first time in 200 years, VAR making a nuisance of itself in the process, while Arsenal have somehow crept into joint-first alongside Liverpool.

They all seem to be doing well, while Chelsea, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Watford all flirt with crisis early doors. Who’ll be the first to hit that big red panic button? I can’t wait to find out.

Premier League:

Sergio Aguero kept up his frankly ridiculous scoring record against top-six sides.

But it was only good enough to earn Man City a draw against Spurs after VAR ruled out a Gabriel Jesus goal — for the second week running!

Meanwhile, Arsenal finally have found a diminutive Spanish midfielder they can fawn over as a replacement for Santi Cazorla.

Norwich City’s Teemu Pukki is 33/1 to win the Golden Boot after his hat-trick against Newcastle United.

On the flipside, the Magpies are already preparing for life in the Championship.

Crystal Palace won the keyboard battle…

… but Sheffield United won the war on the pitch.

JUST GET RID, WILF! GET RID!

(He made up for it in the second half, to be fair to him).

Despite the ideal start, Chelsea couldn’t get the home win against Leicester City.

And so it begins… #LampardOut

Championship:

Probably the highlight of Barnsley’s season and we’re only three games in.

Now this is how you run a football club’s social media.

Expect the next Sessegnon to come down the pipeline in three years time.

La Liga:

This pretty much sums up the start Barcelona have had to the new season.

Serie A:

This is what Manchester United and Spurs missed out on getting this summer:

Oh, crap.

Ligue 1:

Memphis Depay showing off some ridiculous skill for Lyon.

MLS:

Wayne Rooney endearing himself to the Americans before he returns to England in January.
