The renewal of Theo Hernandez has been a hot topic in recent weeks as the Frenchman is asking for a significant pay rise. However, as a report highlights, the parties want to continue together and have already found common ground.
Hernandez has been a very important player for Milan in recent years, despite some inconsistencies this season, and a pay rise is undoubtedly warranted. Currently, the left-back earns €4m per year and while it might not be doubled, there will be a significant increase.
According to today’s edition of Tuttosport, as cited by MilanNews, Milan and Hernandez are keen on extending their partnership, with it being ‘in everyone’s interest’. None of the parties intend to arrive next summer without a signed agreement, so Milan should soon make the call to the player’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon.
An agreement could be found at around €7m plus bonuses, with an extension until 2029. As per the newspapers, we are simply waiting for ‘the final details’ to be defined as the parties intend to continue together. The back and forth, after all, is part of any negotiation and not just the Hernandez renewal.
We can all remember the Rafael Leao saga which, in the end, resulted in a contract being signed. Having said all of this, it’s also clear that Hernandez must improve on the pitch as he has been far too inconsistent this season.
