Alessio Romagnoli is willing to take a sizeable pay cut in order to extend his contract with AC Milan but a meeting point is still yet to be found, a report claims.

The contract of club captain Alessio Romagnoli expires on June 30 and Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) report that the defender – who is represented by Mino Raiola – has for some time expressed his desire to remain at the club and his agent even visited Casa Milan in mid-November to start talking about a renewal.

However, the negotiations are at a standstill because Milan have offered a multi-year contract with a salary ranging between €2.5-2.8m net per season plus bonuses while Romagnoli on the other hand does not want to go below a fixed base of €3.5m plus bonuses.

Back in 2018 during the bizarre era of the Chinese ownership, Romagnoli signed a deal that ensured he would earn as much as €6m net per season including bonuses, so Romagnoli willing to cut his salary a lot (almost 42%).
