AC Milan will return for pre-season next week, and only then will the entire squad have the ability to meet Paulo Fonseca, given he was appointed in the off-season.

Reports before Fonseca’s arrival suggested that the Portuguese manager would not arrive in Italy until July, at least not to be Milan’s manager in person, and this much is true so far, but not for long.

As Tuttosport (via Milan News) writes, the coach will arrive at Milanello, alongside the majority of his team, on July 8 – except for any Rossonero who remains at the European Championship. Next week serves as a chance for the Portuguese coach and the players to feel a new environment when the pressure is piled on them.

With the first weekend of Serie A being the 17th of August, Milan have just under a month and a half to prepare for the upcoming season. However, as the report suggests, the plans for the return have been drawn up for weeks, and after last season, there will be a demand for more.

Therefore, more must be delivered. Last year was a season without silverware and with humility threaded throughout, so now, there must be change, and Fonseca must be prepared to lead that.
