The responsibility will once again pass to captain Alessio Romagnoli for the next few games with Simon Kjaer out for an extended period after surgery.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes that the club are waiting for important answers from the defender. He has not found playing time hard to come by despite losing his spot in the starting XI with 13 total appearances, 10 of which have been starts.

It is clear that he has been an important resource for Milan given Pioli’s need to rotate, but now things have changed radically with Kjaer’s injury as Romagnoli will return to being a pivot of the Rossoneri rearguard.

Milan expects answers on the pitch, but also off the pitch. The renewal of his contract – which expires next June – must also be fought for and while the player seems willing to stay, he will have to accept a downsizing of his current salary. Talks with Raiola have begun and there is optimism, it must be said.
