Turkish referee for Club Brugge vs. Fiorentina semi-final | OneFootball

Turkish referee Halil Umut Meler has been assigned to the Conference League semi-final 2nd leg tie between Fiorentina and Club Brugge.

The match is scheduled at the Jan Breydelstadion in Bruges on Wednesday at 17.45 UK time (16.45 GMT).

This is the decider to reach the Final of the Europa Conference League and Fiorentina won the first leg 3-2 at the Stadio Franchi.

It is brought forward to Wednesday because Thursday is a public holiday in Belgium.

Meler will be assisted by Mustafa Eyisoy and Kerem Ersoy, with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Irfan Peljto as the fourth official.

There is a mixed VAR team of German Marco Fritz and Turkish official Alper Ulusoy.

Meler is a 37-year-old referee who has already officiated several Italian teams this season, including Lazio’s 2-0 Champions League victory over Celtic, Milan’s 4-2 Europa League win against Slavia Prague and most notably Atalanta’s historic 3-0 triumph away to Liverpool.

It will be his first match involving Fiorentina, but Club Brugge do not have fond memories, losing 5-1 away to Benfica in the Champions League Round of 16 in March 2023.
