Hakim Ziyech wants to stay at Galatasaray after all. This is reported by Fanatik and Hurriyet in Turkey. The attacking midfielder has long been linked to a departure, but he now seemingly wants to turn around a tricky start and prove himself in Istanbul.
As said, Ziyech had a bad start to this season after getting injured early on. Following a start in the opening match against Hatayspor, he didn’t play for seven matches due to a torn hamstring.
He has now played 114 league minutes for Galatasaray, in which he was able to provide an assist in a recent 3-2 win against Samsunspor. Moroccan international Ziyech has a contract until the end of this season, but there is an option for an extra year.
Ziyech hopes to turn things around after poor performances saw him linked to a departure in the winter. Galatasaray had seemingly seen enough and a move to America’s MLS looked to be the ideal route for the 31-year-old.
However, that no longer seems likely, as Ziyech himself would want to stay. The attacking midfielder reportedly wants to show that he can still be of value and prove himself to the club management. In a recent Instagram post, the former Ajax and Chelsea man opted for a caption that hinted at his mindset:
“Every bad situation will have something positive. Even a dead clock show correct time twice a day.”
