Lazio are working on terminating the contract of Igor Tudor after recent meetings failed to diffuse the tension between the coach and the club.

The 46-year-old Croatian coach took over at the Biancocelesti back in March following the shock resignation of Maurizio Sarri, who felt his three-year spell at the helm had come to an early end, forcing a mid-season change.

Tudor did fairly well in his 11 matches in charge of Lazio, guiding the club to a seventh-place finish and Europa League qualification after six wins and three draws across Serie A and the Coppa Italia. He had signed a one-year contract with an option for a second.

Tudor leaves Lazio

As detailed by Gianluca Di Marzio, Tudor has decided to leave Lazio after failing to find common ground with president Claudio Lotito and sporting director Angelo Fabiani when discussing the future of the project in the Italian capital.

His contract will be terminated shortly, forcing the Biancocelesti to quickly find a replacement. One option is Marco Baroni, who is ready to leave Hellas Verona; he had a meeting with Monza CEO Adriano Galliani on Tuesday night to discuss a possible move to the club.
