Mateo Kovacic to miss Chelsea vs Man City with hamstring injury

According to news from Daily Mail, Chelsea ace Mateo Kovacic is all set to miss the Manchester City game with a hamstring injury. Thomas Tuchel confirmed the same as Kovacic did not participate in the Porto game and will now miss another crucial game.

Tuchel had to play Kante and Jorginho in midfield against Porto. Kante himself was a doubt for the game but had to be given a start. Nonetheless, Kante covered the game well as Chelsea managed to win the tie on aggregate.

Kovacic has been one of Tuchel’s most trusted lieutenants at Chelsea and now it is unclear as to how long he will be out for. Tuchel spoke out on the same, explaining how he got the injury and how much he will be missed against Man City.

‘It was a muscle injury, out of nothing, [for Kovacic] it was just a little exercise to get a sweat on and he felt his hamstring. I was sad for him because we don’t have many experienced players who have played so many Champions League games. ‘I felt sad for Mateo and we did it for him but N’Golo is an incredible player.’
