After Kingsley Coman’s injury, TV pundit Dietmar Hamann puts forward a theory. FC Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel is asked about it and can’t help but make a sarcastic comment.

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel and TV pundit Dietmar Hamann have already clashed several times this season. After Kingsley Coman had to be substituted with an injury in Munich’s 2-0 win against 1. FC Köln, Hamann put forward another theory on Sky: He linked Bayern’s many injuries this season to the German record champions‘ training programme: ‚Something’s not right,‘ said Hamann: ‚They either train too much or too little. My feeling is that they train too little. I’ve heard that too.“

Tuchel was confronted with this at the press conference after the game against Cologne. „I can’t answer that,“ said Tuchel, visibly irritated when asked about Hamann’s statement.

But then Tuchel teased sarcastically: „But Didi knows, of course.“

Bayern’s press spokesman Dieter Nickles then intervened: „Maybe we should stop always having to answer external judgements immediately,“ he admonished.

Müller: „It COULD be anything“

Bayern star Thomas Müller was also confronted with Hamann’s theory in the mixed zone. Müller’s response: „If you use the word ‚could‘, you can say anything afterwards and it’s always right,“ he said in Hamann’s direction.

Müller was asked again whether he didn’t believe that Bayern’s injury plight could be down to too little training. „It COULD be down to anything,“ he replied.

FC Bayern have not been on good terms with Hamann all season, who has repeatedly criticised FCB and Tuchel in particular. In February, the club even felt compelled to issue a public statement against further „unobjective“ criticism from TV pundits like Hamann.
