It was a horror start for the visitors, as Gregor Kobel missed his clearing attempt on the edge of the box, allowing Leroy Sané to steer the ball into an empty goal for the opener.

It quickly went from bad to worse for Dortmund, as Thomas Müller slotted in two more Bayern goals from point-blank range in quick succession.

In a flash, Bayern found themselves three goals to the good with more than hour yet to play.

Bayern’s dominance carried over into the second interval, and it did not take long for them to find their fourth. A pinpoint Sané cross found Kingsley Coman at the back post, denying Dortmund any chance of a second half revival.

Late goals from Emre Can and Donyell Malen cut Bayern’s lead in half, but it was too-little, too-late for Dortmund, as the minutes wound down towards Bayern’s resounding victory.

The resounding result sees Bayern leapfrog their visitors and take a two-point lead atop the Bundesliga table.
