After FC Bayern’s 2-0 home defeat to Borussia Dortmund, it is difficult to imagine how the Munich team will be able to beat Arsenal FC in the Champions League. But coach Thomas Tuchel has hope for the clash with the Gunners.

Despite FC Bayern’s 2-0 defeat at home to Borussia Dortmund, coach Thomas Tuchel believes they have a chance against FC Arsenal in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

After the game against BVB, the 50-year-old said in an interview on ESPN: „We are capable of beating Arsenal, even if that is hard to believe today.“

What gives the German record champions‘ coach hope: his team’s faltering performances. Tuchel explained: „We have shown very different performances within a short period of time. It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve hit back with an incredibly good performance.“

Indeed, Bayern’s performances this season are difficult to predict. There have been strong games against good opponents, but then there have also been surprising defeats.

First leg in London will take place without Bayern fans

The first leg against Arsenal will take place on 9 April at the Emirates Stadium in London, with the second leg at home in the Allianz Arena on 17 April.

Annoyingly for Bayern, the team will have to make do without the support of FCB fans in the first leg in London. UEFA has banned the sale of tickets to Bayern supporters as a punishment for the misbehaviour of some fans in the first leg of the round of 16 tie at Lazio Roma.

At the time, pyrotechnics were set off on a massive scale in the Bayern curve. Rockets and other objects also flew onto the pitch. The Munich fans were already on probation. Pyrotechnics had also been set off in the FCB block in previous matches, such as the group game in Copenhagen.
