Kostas Tsimikas marked a significant milestone in his Liverpool career as the Reds closed 2024 with a resounding 5-0 victory over West Ham United. The Greece international, introduced as a second-half substitute, notched his 100th appearance for the club—a testament to his resilience and growth since arriving from Olympiacos in 2020.
Reflecting on his journey, Tsimikas told Liverpoolfc.com, “It means everything. It was a dream when I was a young kid to play in a big team. When I came here I didn’t realise I could reach these numbers but I’m really glad. I’m more than glad, to be honest. I’m blessed from God because he gave me the power and no injuries, to achieve this number.”

The left-back, fondly known as the ‘Greek Scouser’, has already lifted an Emirates FA Cup and two Carabao Cups during his tenure. Yet, Tsimikas is far from content. “I’m really, really happy and really glad to be with these people here and with these players. I think we can achieve many, many things if we stick together and do exactly what we did until now,” he added.
Under the stewardship of Arne Slot, Liverpool have been nothing short of dominant. Since the Dutchman’s appointment in May 2024, the Reds have recorded 23 wins, three draws, and just one loss. As the year ends, Liverpool sit atop both the Premier League and Champions League tables, with a Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur looming.
Tsimikas’ optimism reflects the team’s exceptional form. “We have a long journey until the end of the league and we have to see game by game, just take the three points and to win as many games as possible,” he noted.
As the calendar flips to 2025, Tsimikas and his teammates remain laser-focused on achieving greatness. “I’m 100 per cent sure I want to win everything. I think this team can win everything, so every competition ahead is clear for us: we have to win every single game we have ahead and [try] to win every competition,” he declared.
With Slot’s tactical ingenuity and a squad brimming with confidence, Liverpool’s ambitions of silverware seem well within reach. As Tsimikas puts it, “We set our goals from the start of the season and the only thing we have to do is exactly that, to go out there and show to the world we are good players, we play incredible football and we win football matches.”
Liverpool fans have every reason to be excited heading into 2025. The team’s performances under Arne Slot have been electric, blending attacking flair with defensive solidity. Tsimikas reaching 100 appearances highlights the depth and commitment within the squad—a vital ingredient in their pursuit of glory.
However, some supporters may feel cautiously optimistic. While the team is on an incredible run, the high expectations for ‘winning everything’ could create pressure. A Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham represents the first major hurdle in the new year. Can the Reds maintain their momentum against top-tier opposition?
Tsimikas’ words inspire belief, but the squad’s ability to navigate injuries, fixture congestion, and fierce competition will be tested. Regardless, fans can take comfort in Slot’s impressive record so far and the hunger that players like Tsimikas bring to the table. If Liverpool continue on this trajectory, 2025 could be a historic year at Anfield.
