ESTAC Troyes have announced that Renaud Ripart (30) has suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon and will face a long period on the sidelines.

Ripart suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of AJ Auxerre. Speaking post-match, manager Patrick Kisnorbo said that he was fearing the worst after he left the field on a stretcher, and those fears have been realised.

After further tests, it has been ascertained that the French forward has suffered a ruptured achilles tendon. In Troyes’ announcement, no return date was given, although the club did say that Ripart would be facing a “long period of unavailability.” He will undergo surgery in the coming days.

Ripart is certainly out until the end of the season, and he will be a big miss for Troyes, who are battling relegation. The Frenchman has contributed four league goals during the current campaign with the club five points away from safety with nine games remaining. By the time Ripart returns, there is a chance that his club will be playing Ligue 2 football.
